The main reason we headed to Lone Star state this summer was to visit a good friend of mine. I taught on the same hall as her during my time as a Texas Studies teacher. This woman is an amazing mother, incredible teacher and courageous cancer fighter. During the last week of school, my friend learned that the cancer she had conquered twice before had reappeared. She immediately began receiving a series of intense radiation and learns the outcome of the treatment this week.
My friend is a devout Christian. Her unwavering belief in God guides how she lives her life. When we were preparing to meet Turo, not only did she pray for us, she also enlisted the help of her Bible Study group. It meant a lot to me that she carried our journey into her sacred space.
