Happy Anniversary

I recently found a journal I had to keep in an 8th grade language arts class. Here were my thoughts on marriage in 1991...

I want to marry a kind caring man who loves people.
I want someone who is involved in things like organizations that help others.

Someone who cares about me and would equally fulfill the household jobs and chores. I want somebody who won't mind if I make more money or have a higher job position than him. I want a husband who has a sense of humor but is sensitive, not the macho type.

Somebody who wants a couple of children and will care for them too.

He could be taller than me and handsome but looks aren't everything. He doesn't drink or do drugs.

He wouldn't have affairs or stay real late at the office. I don't want to get married until I've graduated from law school and that will be awhile off. And I don't want to have children until we both have steady jobs so we can support them. We'd take our children on trips so they could see the world.

I want to live in a nice house with a couple good cars. But even if we're majorly rich I wouldn't abuse it. I'd live so we'd have good clothes and a stable life. I think I'd spend some of the money helping the homeless or the environment.

My 13 year old self was pretty spot on. She'd be pretty impressed with her adult-self's husband.

Happy 7th Anniversary, JJB.

Two things -

One, your 13 year old self sounds a lot like your adult self - what great values you've always had!

Two, happy anniversary!:)
